Ransomware & Extortion
A Magic Packet is a specially crafted network message designed to trigger a specific response in a system or software. In cybersecurity, attackers may use magic packets to activate hidden features in malware, such as waking up a dormant backdoor or initiating unauthorized access. While magic packets are also used legitimately, for example to remotely wake up computers using Wake-on-LAN technology, they can pose security risks if exploited by malicious actors.
