Wind Correction Angle (WCA) is the angle a pilot must adjust their aircraft's heading to compensate for the effect of wind drift and maintain the intended flight path. When wind blows across the flight path, it pushes the aircraft off course. To counteract this, the pilot calculates the WCA and adjusts the heading into the wind, ensuring the aircraft remains on its planned track. This concept is crucial in navigation, as failing to account for wind can lead to significant deviations from the intended route, potentially impacting safety and efficiency. WCA is determined using flight planning tools or calculations based on wind direction, wind speed, and aircraft speed.
