Solder-fume extractor

A device that captures fumes near the work area to reduce inhalation exposure during soldering.

A solder-fume extractor is a source-capture ventilation device that pulls solder and flux fumes away from the breathing zone at the workbench. By placing the intake close to the joint, it reduces inhalation exposure far more effectively than simply moving air around the room.

In cyber security, this matters anywhere hardware is handled: reverse-engineering boards, repairing embedded devices, building prototypes, or modifying lab equipment. Clean, local exhaust helps defenders and researchers work longer and more safely, while also reducing contamination on optics, sensors, and other sensitive gear. In real attacks and defenses, the extractor is part of the practical bench setup that supports soldering, desoldering, and rework; it does not stop an intrusion by itself, but it helps keep the operator and workspace usable during hands-on hardware operations.
