SIRI

A European standard for exchanging real-time public transport information.

SIRI, short for Service Interface for Real Time Information, is a European standard for exchanging live public transport data. It is used to publish and consume updates such as vehicle positions, delays, cancellations, platform changes, and service alerts between operators, city systems, and passenger apps.

In cyber security, SIRI matters because real-time transport feeds are operationally critical. If an attacker tampers with a feed, abuses an API, or exploits a misconfigured integration, journey planners and control systems can show false or stale information. Defenses focus on strong authentication, integrity checks, rate limiting, logging, and strict version control, so one bad partner connection does not spread bad data across the mobility ecosystem.
