RUNTS is Italy’s official register for Third Sector entities. It records which organizations are recognized, what status they hold, and the basic information used by public bodies, partners, and citizens to verify them. In practice, it acts as a trust anchor: if the registry is accurate and current, it is easier to confirm that an organization is legitimate and entitled to operate under Third Sector rules.
In cyber security, registers like RUNTS matter because they concentrate high-value identity and compliance data. Attackers may try to impersonate listed entities, alter records, harvest personal or organizational data, or use lookalike websites and emails to exploit trust in the registry. Defenders use strong access control, logging, data validation, and backup and recovery procedures to protect integrity and availability. When the record system is reliable, it reduces fraud, supports safer digital workflows, and makes verification faster for institutions and partners.
