Real-time output is information delivered quickly enough to be useful immediately. In practice, this means the delay between an event and what the user sees is short enough that the display still reflects the current state. On small systems such as Raspberry Pi camera setups, real-time output depends on the full pipeline from capture to processing to display.
In cyber security, real-time output matters because operators rely on fresh data to make safe decisions. A delayed camera feed, alert dashboard, or log view can cause stale judgments, missed detections, or slow incident response. Defenders use real-time output in monitoring consoles, intrusion alerts, and automated blocking systems. Attackers may try to exploit lag by acting faster than humans can react, or by creating timing pressure that hides malicious activity behind outdated status information. Reliable real-time output is therefore a core requirement for both visibility and control.
