Radio control (R/C)

Remote control system that sends pilot inputs to a vehicle or aircraft.

Radio control (R/C) is a wireless command link that carries pilot inputs from a transmitter to a vehicle or aircraft. In hobby aviation, those signals steer surfaces, throttle, and auxiliary functions; in other systems, the same idea controls robots, drones, and remote machinery. The link is usually low-latency and designed for reliability rather than strong security.

That makes R/C relevant to cyber security. An attacker may try to jam the radio channel, flood it with interference, or spoof control messages if the protocol is weak. The result can be loss of control, forced landing, or unsafe behavior. Defenders reduce risk with authenticated protocols, frequency hopping, link encryption where supported, fail-safes that cut power or return to a safe state, and telemetry that detects signal loss or abnormal commands. In practice, R/C security is about protecting the command path as much as the machine itself.
