Premium service

The paid version of a product, often associated with extra features or support.

A premium service is the paid tier of a product or platform. Compared with a free or basic plan, it usually adds features such as advanced settings, higher usage limits, priority support, reporting, or stronger security controls. In cybersecurity products, premium tiers are common in password managers, VPNs, endpoint tools, and cloud services.

Premium service matters because security often depends on capabilities that are only available in the paid version. For example, a business may need multi-factor authentication enforcement, audit logs, encrypted backups, or admin controls that are not included in the free plan. Attackers also use the term in scams, copying legitimate subscription offers to lure victims into paying or entering account details. When evaluating a premium service, users should check whether the extra features genuinely reduce risk and whether they fit the organization’s threat model.
