Monthly report

a periodic status update showing progress or outcomes over time.

A monthly report is a periodic status update that summarizes progress, outcomes, and open issues over a one-month interval. In cyber security, it is often used to track whether a control is working, such as data removal, patching, account reviews, or alert handling.

Monthly reports matter because security work is rarely one-and-done. Attackers and data brokers can reintroduce risk after a cleanup, so teams need repeated visibility to confirm that requests were processed, records stayed removed, or exposure dropped over time. A report can also reveal patterns such as repeated failures, slow responses, or the return of stale data. In defensive operations, monthly reporting supports accountability and trend analysis; in attacks, criminals may use reporting cycles to time phishing, persistence checks, or follow-up abuse when oversight is weakest.
