Locomotion PC

The robot’s control computer, described here as the Linux-based system handling motion and related subsystems.

A Locomotion PC is the robot’s main control computer for movement and related subsystems. In many robots it runs Linux and coordinates motors, sensors, cameras, audio, and voice functions. It sits close to the operational core, so access to this machine is far more sensitive than access to a normal support service.

In cyber security, the Locomotion PC matters because compromise can cross from software into physical behavior. If an attacker reaches it through Bluetooth, a network service, or another management path, they may be able to change motion commands, interfere with safety checks, or obtain root-level control. Defenders should treat it as safety-critical infrastructure: minimize exposed services, require authentication for privileged actions, isolate the control plane, and disable unused wireless interfaces. The goal is to keep a nearby attacker from turning radio access into control of the robot itself.
