Lithium battery

A rechargeable battery type widely used in consumer, industrial, and transport devices.

A lithium battery is a rechargeable cell used in phones, laptops, tools, sensors, vehicles, and many other devices. It stores high energy in a compact package, which makes it useful for portable and embedded systems. In security operations, that density and portability matter because many critical assets depend on battery power to stay online during outages or to keep logs, alarms, and communications running.

Lithium batteries matter in cyber security for both availability and safety. If batteries fail, are poorly maintained, or are replaced and disposed of carelessly, monitoring hardware, access-control systems, and field devices can go offline. Attackers may not need to break software if they can disrupt power, while defenders treat battery health, charging, storage, transport, and end-of-life handling as part of asset management. Clear workflows reduce confusion, prevent fire risk, and help keep systems dependable.
