ISAC

An Information Sharing and Analysis Center, a trusted forum where organizations exchange threat intelligence and coordinate defense.

An ISAC, or Information Sharing and Analysis Center, is a trusted forum where organizations in the same sector exchange threat intelligence and coordinate defenses. Members share indicators of compromise, attack patterns, suspicious infrastructure, and response guidance under rules that are meant to protect sensitive information.

ISACs matter because many cyberattacks affect entire industries, not just one company. In critical sectors such as communications, finance, energy, and healthcare, one organization may detect a phishing campaign, malware loader, or abused login pattern before others do. Shared intelligence can help peers block malicious domains, hunt for related activity, and contain incidents faster. In defense, an ISAC improves visibility and speed; in attacks, it gives defenders a structured way to connect separate clues into a broader campaign. The model only works when trust, governance, and handling procedures are strong enough to keep information useful and safe to share.
