GeoJSON

A format for encoding geographic shapes, including field boundaries and polygons.

GeoJSON is a text-based format for representing geographic data as JSON. It can encode points, lines, and polygons, making it a common way to store and exchange field boundaries, parcel outlines, routes, and other map shapes in web and GIS applications.

In cyber security, GeoJSON matters because it can reveal sensitive operational details. A leaked GeoJSON file may expose the layout of farms, sites, assets, or infrastructure, which can help attackers plan phishing, recon, or physical targeting. In agritech and IoT platforms, GeoJSON often travels through APIs, dashboards, exports, and integrations, so defenders should treat it as sensitive data. Protect it with access control, encryption, logging, and careful review of public endpoints, because a small file of map geometry can still provide high-value intelligence.
