The Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico is Italy’s electronic health record framework for clinical and administrative documents. It brings together prescriptions, reports, discharge summaries, lab results, and other health data so authorized providers and citizens can access them through a controlled digital service.
In cyber security, FSE matters because it concentrates highly sensitive information and exposes it through identity, access-control, API, and logging layers. That makes it a valuable target for credential theft, unauthorized viewing, data scraping, and abuse of poorly segmented integrations. Defenders focus on strong authentication, least-privilege access, consent management, audit trails, encryption, and resilient service design. In practice, securing FSE means protecting not just a database, but the entire chain of record creation, exchange, and retrieval across hospitals, regional systems, and connected health services.
