Extra member

An official paid option for adding a non-household user without sharing the primary credentials.

An extra member is an official paid add-on that lets a subscription owner invite a non-household user without handing over the primary account password. The extra member usually gets a separate login or profile-linked identity, while the main subscription keeps control over billing and access rules. In other words, it is a controlled sharing model rather than informal credential reuse.

In cyber security, this matters because shared passwords are hard to audit, easy to reuse elsewhere, and difficult to revoke cleanly. An extra-member model reduces exposure by separating users and making verification depend on a distinct email address or sign-in flow. It also creates a new target: if an attacker compromises the linked mailbox or verification channel, they may be able to hijack access without knowing the main password. Defenders use this approach to enforce entitlement boundaries, improve accountability, and limit the damage caused by password sharing.
