End user verification is the process of confirming the identity, role, and legitimacy of the final recipient of a product, service, or system. In cybersecurity and export-controlled hardware supply chains, it helps ensure that expensive or sensitive equipment is delivered to the organization or person that actually requested it, not to an intermediary, reseller, or hidden buyer.
It matters because attackers and illicit brokers can use false purchases, shell companies, or routed shipments to mask the real destination of advanced hardware, software, or credentials. Defenders use document checks, customer due diligence, contract review, destination validation, and anomaly detection to spot suspicious orders or transshipment patterns. Strong end user verification reduces diversion risk, supports compliance, and helps protect high-value compute and other strategic assets from being moved into opaque channels.
