The drivetrain is the chain of parts that carries power from the pedals to the rear wheel: crankset, chain, cassette or freewheel, derailleurs, and related components. Its job is simple but critical: convert human force into forward motion with as little loss as possible.
In cyber security, drivetrain integrity matters whenever a bicycle is paired with electronics, sensors, or software-controlled assistance. Attackers may try to alter speed or cadence data, jam shifting systems, or tamper with firmware in connected components to disrupt performance or safety. Defenders focus on authenticated updates, sensor validation, secure diagnostics, and physical inspection so that software does not silently change how mechanical power is delivered.
