Data aggregation

Combining multiple streams of data into one profile for tracking or analysis.

Data aggregation is the process of combining multiple streams of data into one view or profile. Those inputs can include network logs, location data, message metadata, device identifiers, app activity, and account events. The goal is to turn scattered signals into something easier to search, analyze, or act on.

In cyber security, aggregation matters because weak individual clues can become powerful when linked together. An attacker can use it for tracking, targeting, or building a detailed profile of a person, device, or organization. Defenders use the same idea for detection and response, correlating telemetry from endpoints, identity systems, cloud services, and firewalls to spot suspicious patterns that no single log would reveal.
