A 24/7 SOC, or security operations center, is a team and operating model that monitors security alerts around the clock and coordinates response. Analysts watch endpoint, network, cloud, and identity telemetry, then triage events, confirm real threats, and escalate incidents when needed. The “24/7” part matters because attacks rarely happen during business hours.
In cyber security, a round-the-clock SOC helps reduce dwell time, catch lateral movement, and stop ransomware or account abuse before damage spreads. It can be run internally, outsourced, or delivered as part of a security platform. In real defenses, a 24/7 SOC is valuable when alerts must be investigated quickly, not left for the next shift. In attacks, adversaries often exploit gaps in coverage; a continuously staffed SOC is designed to close them.
