An unauthenticated path is a URL, API route, or application workflow that a person can reach without logging in or presenting credentials. It may be intentionally public, such as a page for viewing published content, or it may expose functionality that was expected to be available only to trusted users.
In cyber security, an exposed path can let an attacker interact with vulnerable code without first obtaining an account, lowering the barrier to attack. In real deployments, routes may become reachable through extensions, configuration choices, or custom code even when the core application does not expose them directly. Defenders should inventory externally accessible routes, verify that sensitive actions enforce authorization, and apply relevant patches or temporary mitigations. A no-login route indicates potential exposure, not proof that an attack occurred.
