UALink

An open interconnect standard for linking accelerators in high-bandwidth AI systems.

UALink is an open interconnect standard for linking AI accelerators, such as GPUs and specialized inference chips, across high-bandwidth systems. It is designed to move data quickly between devices so large models can share memory, exchange tensors, and keep compute units busy instead of waiting on slower links. In practice, that makes it important for distributed training, large-scale inference, and other workloads where bandwidth and latency directly affect performance.

From a security perspective, interconnects like UALink matter because they widen the trusted computing surface. More tightly coupled accelerators increase the need for secure firmware, device authentication, memory isolation, and careful control over DMA-style data movement. Attackers that gain access to the platform may try to abuse the fabric for data exfiltration, disruption, or covert lateral movement between devices. Defenders use inventory, attestation, patch management, and segmentation to reduce risk while keeping the performance benefits of a fast accelerator fabric.
