A tied deposit account is a savings product that locks money for a fixed term in exchange for interest. The customer gives up immediate access to the funds until maturity, and the return usually depends on how long the money stays committed. In app-based banking, the term, rate, and activation step must be clearly shown before the user confirms the deposit.
In cyber security, tied deposits matter because attackers often target banking flows where users are asked to approve a long-lived financial commitment. Phishing pages, fake app prompts, or social engineering can trick people into entering credentials or accepting terms they do not understand. Defenders reduce this risk with strong authentication, clear term disclosures, secure in-app confirmations, and alerts that distinguish ordinary account access from irreversible financial actions. For users, the key control is to verify the lock-in period and the activation process before moving funds.
