A telematic register is a certified fiscal device that records sales and sends transaction data electronically to a tax authority or approved platform. It replaces or supplements paper-based cash-register reporting by turning each receipt into structured, machine-readable fiscal data. In many deployments, it is tied to a POS terminal and managed through an online portal or backend service.
In cyber security, the telematic register matters because it sits on the trusted path between the sale and the tax record. If an attacker steals portal credentials, abuses an API token, alters device mappings, or disrupts connectivity, the result can be missing receipts, incorrect reporting, or audit problems. Defenders protect these systems with strong identity controls, least privilege, secure device enrollment, firmware hygiene, logging, and reconciliation of transmitted records against local sales activity.
