Telco cloud is a telecom-focused cloud architecture for running network functions, service platforms, and orchestration systems on software-defined infrastructure. Instead of fixed appliances, operators use virtualized or containerized components that can be scaled, moved, and automated across centralized and edge sites. This matters because telecom services need low latency, high availability, and tight integration with access, compute, and management layers.
From a security perspective, telco cloud expands the attack surface. More APIs, control planes, and distributed sites create more opportunities for credential theft, misconfiguration, lateral movement, and service disruption. Defenders use strong identity controls, segmentation, workload hardening, monitoring, and recovery planning to protect it. In attacks, adversaries may target orchestration systems or management interfaces to impact many services at once.
