Superset SQL Lab is the built-in workspace in Apache Superset for writing, testing, and running SQL queries. It gives analysts an interactive way to explore data sources directly from the web application, rather than switching to a separate database client.
In cyber security, SQL Lab matters because it sits at a sensitive boundary: user input can become executable database language. If the application fails to sanitize or constrain that input, SQL injection may let an attacker change queries, read restricted data, or abuse the database connection behind the interface. Defenders therefore treat SQL Lab as a high-risk feature and protect it with strong authentication, tight role-based access, query validation, least-privilege database accounts, and careful patching. In real deployments, the goal is to preserve the productivity of ad hoc querying without letting a convenient interface become a path to data exposure.
