A structured model is an approach built around clear rules, repeatable workflows, and well-defined services or controls. In cyber security, it usually means a system that behaves predictably: inputs are standardized, decisions follow policy, and each step leaves an auditable trace.
This matters because structure makes security easier to govern, test, and monitor. Defenders use structured models in identity and access management, ticketed incident response, policy engines, and logging pipelines. Attackers often target the same predictability by looking for fixed workflows, exposed trust boundaries, or misconfigurations that repeat across environments. Compared with ad hoc designs, a structured model reduces confusion, supports consistent enforcement, and makes it easier to spot abnormal behavior.
