Stealth listing

A listing that does not clearly disclose the model provider’s identity.

A stealth listing is a product, service, or model entry that is public enough to be used, but does not clearly disclose who built it, operates it, or vouches for it. In AI security, that missing provenance makes the listing hard to trust because users cannot quickly verify ownership, policy, data handling, or security review status.

This matters in cyber security because opaque provenance creates supply-chain risk. A stealth-listed model used for coding, automation, or agentic workflows can influence sensitive decisions, generate insecure code, or be granted access to secrets before teams understand the operator behind it. Defenders treat these listings as untrusted until verified, applying least privilege, sandboxing, approval gates, and data restrictions. Attackers can also benefit from stealth listings by hiding malicious or low-quality tooling behind a vague name, reducing scrutiny and increasing the chance of unsafe adoption.
