Static website

A normal, persistent web page that can often be blocked, scanned, or taken down more easily.

A static website is a normal, persistent web page served from a fixed URL or host. Its content usually changes only when the owner updates the files, so it can be indexed, scanned, blocked, or removed with relatively simple defenses. Because the page is stable, defenders can build domain reputation, URL blocklists, and takedown requests around it.

In phishing, static websites are attractive to attackers when they want a simple credential-harvesting page that looks legitimate. They are also a weakness, because the final lure is easy to enumerate and easier to disrupt than content generated inside a browser session or hidden behind trusted cloud services. Modern defenses still watch static websites, but they also look for runtime signals, unusual redirects, identity telemetry, and browser behavior when attackers try to avoid a durable web footprint.
