Spaces

Kibana’s logical separation for grouping content and limiting what different users can see.

Spaces are Kibana’s logical partitions for organizing dashboards, visualizations, searches, and other saved objects. They help separate teams, projects, or environments so users only see the content assigned to them.

In cyber security, Spaces matter because they support least privilege and reduce accidental or malicious cross-user access. If permissions are misconfigured, an attacker or low-privileged user may reach dashboards, queries, or reports that belong to another group. Defenders use Spaces alongside role-based access control to limit exposure, test isolation, and confirm that saved objects stay inside the intended boundary.
