Signal fusion is the practice of combining multiple data points into one security decision. In fraud and cyber defense, those inputs can include email age, IP reputation, phone number, address, device fingerprint, login behavior, and transaction history. Each signal alone may be weak or noisy, but together they can produce a more reliable risk score.
This matters because attackers often try to evade single checks by changing one detail, such as using a new email address or a fresh IP. A fused model makes evasion harder by looking for consistency across many fields. Defenders use signal fusion in fraud scoring, account takeover detection, bot detection, and access control. The tradeoff is that poor or stale inputs can distort the final decision, so teams need calibration, monitoring, and explainable reason codes to understand why a user was flagged.
