Shared conversation link

A public link to a saved chat or thread that can be reused in a lure.

A shared conversation link is a public URL that points to a saved chat or thread. In many platforms, it is meant for convenient collaboration: anyone with the link can read the shared content, even if they are not part of the original session. Because the link is legitimate and hosted on a trusted domain, it can look safer than a random phishing page.

In cyber attacks, criminals can reuse these links as part of a lure. They may copy brand cues from the platform, wrap the link around fake verification steps, and push the target toward actions such as pasting commands or opening a download. The link itself is not the exploit; the trust it creates is the weapon. Defenders should treat unexpected shared links as risky, especially when they are paired with prompts to copy, paste, sign in, or “fix” an error. Monitoring for abuse of sharing features, user education, and suspicious browser-side prompts help reduce this kind of social engineering.
