Session trust

Confidence that a live interaction belongs to the intended user and device.

Session trust is the confidence that a live interaction still belongs to the intended user and device. In security terms, it is the judgment that the current call, login, chat, or browser session has not been silently hijacked, replayed, or reassigned to someone else. Strong authentication creates the session, but session trust is about whether that trust remains valid as the session continues.

This matters because many attacks target the gap between identity verification and ongoing control. An attacker may steal a token, abuse a transferred call, exploit a confused user interface, or trick someone into admitting the wrong participant. Defenses raise session trust with clear device prompts, reauthentication for sensitive actions, visible participant changes, short-lived tokens, and host controls such as waiting rooms. In products like web calling, transfer, and live collaboration, good design makes it easy to tell who is present, which device is active, and whether a handoff is legitimate.
