A session archive is a saved capture of network activity, usually collected by a proxy or debugging tool for troubleshooting. It can contain full HTTP requests and responses, headers, cookies, tokens, URLs, and sometimes decrypted HTTPS traffic. For developers and support teams, that makes it valuable for reproducing bugs and tracing failures.
In cyber security, a session archive is sensitive because it may expose credentials, internal endpoints, or application data that should never leave a controlled workstation. Attackers who obtain these files can often learn how an application works, replay authenticated requests, or extract secrets for further access. Defenders should treat archived sessions like confidential records: limit access, encrypt storage, remove unnecessary captures, and delete old files. This is especially important when debugging tools also manage trust certificates or intercept encrypted traffic, since the archive may reveal more than a normal packet log.
