Security readiness

The ability of an organization to prevent, detect, and recover from cyber threats.

Security readiness is an organization’s ability to prevent, detect, and recover from cyber threats. It combines people, processes, and tools: patch management, monitoring, access control, incident response plans, backups, and regular training. A team can own strong policies on paper and still have poor readiness if it lacks staff, funding, or practice.

In cyber security, readiness matters because attacks often exploit slow response and weak coordination, not just technical flaws. Well-prepared defenders can validate alerts, contain phishing-driven account abuse, spot unusual access, and restore systems quickly after disruption. Poor readiness shows up as delayed triage, inconsistent logging, missed patches, and slow recovery across critical services. For organizations that run essential infrastructure, readiness is a practical measure of resilience: how well they can keep operating when threats arrive.
