Screen-sharing

A live session where another party can view what is displayed on a device, which can expose sensitive information.

Screen-sharing is a live session that lets another person view what appears on your device. Depending on the app and permissions, the other party may see messages, account details, one-time codes, or banking prompts as they appear. Some tools also allow remote control, but viewing and controlling are distinct capabilities.

In social-engineering attacks, scammers may pressure someone to start screen-sharing while posing as a bank, support agent, or other trusted party. Seeing sensitive information can help an attacker steal credentials or guide a victim through account-recovery or payment steps. Treat unsolicited requests to share your screen as suspicious, stop the session before opening sensitive apps, and never reveal passwords or verification codes. Security features may warn users during risky sessions, but they do not replace careful verification.
