Sandbox Protection

Isolation meant to limit what code can do if it is triggered or compromised.

Sandbox protection is isolation that limits what a program, browser tab, plugin, or embedded component can access if it is triggered or compromised. A sandbox usually restricts file system access, network reach, process interaction, and operating system privileges so that a flaw does not become full system compromise. It is a core defense in modern browsers and other apps that execute untrusted content.

In real attacks, sandboxes matter because exploit chains often try to escape them or bypass them entirely. If sandboxing is disabled, outdated, or weakened by custom integrations, malicious content can do far more damage after code execution. Defenders use sandboxing to contain drive-by downloads, document exploits, and browser-based payloads, and they look for signs that a product is running a legacy engine or launching content with excessive trust. Strong sandbox protection turns a successful exploit into a much smaller incident.
