Sales channel

the path used to offer or sell a service, such as web, call center, or retail.

A sales channel is the path a business uses to offer or sell a service, such as a website, call center, retail shop, partner portal, or field agent. In cyber security, the channel matters because it is often the first place where customer data, account actions, pricing, and eligibility checks are handled. If the channel is poorly secured or inconsistently controlled, attackers may abuse it to steal data, change orders, enroll victims in unwanted services, or bypass required verification steps.

Security teams treat sales channels as part of the attack surface. Defenses include strong authentication for staff tools, anti-fraud checks, logging, rate limits, verified scripts, and synchronized product and coverage data so customers receive accurate information across every path. In real operations, a weakness in one channel can undermine trust in the whole service, especially when web, phone, and in-person teams must all present the same approved offer and comply with the same policy.
