Remediated version

The fixed build of a product that corrects a known vulnerability.

A remediated version is the fixed build of a product that removes a known vulnerability. Vendors publish it in advisories so administrators can compare the installed release on each system with the version that contains the patch. If a device is still on an older build, it remains exposed even if the fix is already available.

This term matters because patching is often a version-checking exercise. Security teams use the remediated version to decide which hosts need urgent updates, whether a rollout is complete, and whether firmware, drivers, or software must be staged in maintenance windows. In real attacks, adversaries often target systems that have not yet moved to the remediated version. In defense, asset inventory and version tracking turn a vulnerability notice into action: identify affected products, confirm the corrected build, deploy it, and verify the change.
