A relationship pattern is the repeated connection between accounts, services, or messages that can reveal coordinated activity. Instead of looking at one post or login in isolation, defenders analyze how entities relate over time: who contacts whom, which accounts share infrastructure, which channels are used in sequence, and how often the same paths reappear.
This matters in cyber security because many abuse campaigns are distributed to hide in plain sight. A single message may look harmless, but a pattern of repeated contact attempts, rapid moves from public to private channels, or synchronized behavior across several platforms can expose phishing, grooming, fraud, bot activity, or command-and-control coordination. In defense, relationship patterns are used in graph analysis, account linking, trust-and-safety workflows, and incident investigations to connect separate signals into one case.
