A reinstall is the process of putting an application back onto a device after it has been deleted. In mobile security, this is more than a convenience: the reinstall path is often the only way to restore access after a phone reset, device migration, corruption, or accidental removal. If the app must be downloaded from a controlled marketplace, a restricted or removed distribution channel can block reinstalls even when the app is still working on devices that already have it.
This matters because attackers and defenders both care about continuity of access. Malware analysts may see reinstall attempts used to regain a foothold after cleanup, while defenders may use store policy, enterprise portals, or device management to control what can be reinstalled. If users cannot reinstall a trusted app, availability is reduced without any code change on the device. In practice, reinstall depends on both the application and the delivery path remaining reachable.
