Predictive safety is a prevention strategy that uses data collection, analytics, and pattern recognition to spot risk before an incident occurs. Instead of waiting for damage, injury, or a breach, the system looks for leading indicators such as unusual sensor readings, unsafe movement, repeated policy violations, or signs that equipment or people are entering a higher-risk state.
In cyber security, predictive safety appears in defenses like SIEM, endpoint telemetry, UEBA, and anomaly detection. These tools can flag abnormal logins, lateral movement, device misbehavior, or process changes early enough for a team to isolate a host, tighten controls, or review a workflow. Its value depends on good data, validated models, and low false-alarm rates; otherwise, alerts become noise and real threats slip through. When used well, predictive safety shifts security from reaction to early intervention.
