The PMI Talent Triangle is a project management framework built around three skill areas: Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen. It says effective project managers need more than scheduling and status tracking: they need delivery methods, communication and influence, and the ability to connect decisions to strategy and value.
In cyber security, this matters because many security efforts are cross-functional and time-sensitive. Strong Ways of Working help teams run change control, incident response, and security programs in a disciplined way. Power Skills support stakeholder alignment, escalation, and clear communication during high-pressure events. Business Acumen helps security leaders choose controls that reduce risk without breaking operations or budgets. Attackers often exploit weak coordination, unclear ownership, and rushed approvals; defenders use the Talent Triangle to reduce that risk with human review, accountable decision-making, and better prioritization.
