Pi Camera

A camera module designed to work with Raspberry Pi systems.

A Pi Camera is a camera module built to connect to Raspberry Pi systems, usually through the CSI interface. It gives the Pi an imaging input for projects such as computer vision, time-lapse capture, robotics, and compact surveillance devices. Because it is a hardware module rather than a generic USB webcam, it is often chosen for small embedded builds where size, power use, and direct board integration matter.

In cybersecurity, Pi Cameras matter because they can extend a system’s sensing and recording capabilities. Defenders use them in access-control prototypes, monitoring stations, and intrusion-detection projects. Attackers may abuse the same hardware for covert recording, unauthorized surveillance, or physical reconnaissance if a device is left unattended or poorly protected. Security around Pi Camera deployments therefore includes physical access control, firmware and OS hardening, least-privilege permissions for camera software, and careful handling of image data.
