Physical behavior

effects created by motion, scale, vibration, or other real-world properties.

Physical behavior is the observable effect a device produces because of real-world properties such as motion, scale, vibration, heat, sound, or electromagnetic response. In hardware, these effects are not cosmetic: they often help define what the device does and how reliably it does it.

In cyber security, physical behavior matters because attackers and defenders can both use it. An attacker may exploit acoustic, vibration, power, or EM side channels to learn secrets or disrupt operation. A defender may rely on physical behavior for tamper detection, sensor validation, or liveness checks. If a clone, emulator, or test rig matches the code but not the physical behavior, it may still fail under load, leak information, or behave differently in the field.
