Persona management is the practice of maintaining a believable fake identity across messages, calls, and platforms. In cybercrime, it means more than inventing a name: the operator keeps the story, tone, timing, language, and behavior consistent so the identity feels real over time. LLMs can help generate replies that stay in character, remember details, and adapt to different audiences.
This matters because many scams depend on trust. A well-managed persona can survive follow-up questions, switch between chat and voice, and even localize its pitch through translation tools. Defenders should treat any familiar-sounding account, voice, or video as a signal, not proof. Strong verification, such as out-of-band callbacks, manual review, and challenge questions tied to known facts, helps expose personas that are synthetic but carefully maintained.
