Pan-tilt head

A motorized mount that moves a camera left-right and up-down.

A pan-tilt head is a motorized mount that aims a camera in two directions: panning turns it horizontally, while tilting moves it up or down. A controller sends commands to its motors, allowing an operator to reposition the camera remotely or make repeatable movements.

These mounts are useful for surveillance, remote filming, and other situations where precise camera framing matters. In cyber security, a network-connected pan-tilt head may be part of an internet-connected camera system, so weak passwords, exposed services, or outdated firmware can let an attacker view footage or move the camera without permission. Defenses include changing default credentials, restricting remote access, updating firmware, and placing camera devices on a segmented network.
