An orchestration platform is software that coordinates workflows, tools, and services into one managed process. In cyber security, it often sits above individual components and decides what runs, in what order, and with which permissions. In AI systems, that can include prompts, agents, APIs, databases, and external integrations.
This matters because the orchestration layer can become a high-value target. If an attacker compromises it, they may gain access to workflow logic, secrets, or connected services rather than just a single application screen. Defenders treat these platforms as control-plane infrastructure: they restrict access, require strong authentication, inventory deployments, and patch quickly. Security reviews also focus on exposed endpoints, stored credentials, and whether test or staging instances are reachable from untrusted networks.
