Multiprocess mode is a deployment design where cache handling runs as a separate process or service from the inference engine. In LLM systems, this often means the cache layer can be updated, shared, or scaled independently from model execution.
This design can improve performance and operational flexibility, but it also creates a new security boundary. Once the cache service is network-reachable, it must be treated like any other privileged application: authenticated, isolated, and restricted by network policy. If an attacker can interact with the cache interface, weaknesses in request parsing, deserialization, or command handling may lead to unauthorized access or even remote code execution. Defenders should inventory whether multiprocess mode is enabled, limit exposure to trusted hosts, apply least privilege, and separate the cache process from sensitive credentials and internal services.
