Multi-device viewing

the ability to watch the same service on more than one type of screen.

Multi-device viewing is the ability to use the same service on more than one type of screen, such as a phone, tablet, smart TV, or web browser. In cyber security, this matters because every supported device becomes part of the access surface: each one may need authentication, session management, content protection, and compatibility checks. If those controls are weak, attackers can reuse stolen credentials, add unauthorized devices, or share access beyond the subscription rules.

In real systems, multi-device support is defended with measures such as device registration, token-based sessions, multi-factor authentication, playback limits, and the ability to revoke active sessions. Security teams also watch for unusual patterns, like the same account appearing on many devices at once or from inconsistent locations. In streaming services, the feature improves convenience, but it also creates more opportunities for account takeover, entitlement abuse, and bypassing digital rights controls.
