A multi-currency account is a financial account that can hold, receive, and send funds in more than one currency from the same interface. It is common in digital wallets and fintech platforms because it reduces exchange friction and lets users pay locally without opening separate accounts for every currency.
In cyber security, the term matters because one login may control balances, card settings, transfers, and currency exchange across several currencies. That concentration raises the value of the account as an attack target: if an attacker steals credentials, bypasses authentication, or takes over a device, they may be able to move funds, convert value, or disable cards quickly. Defenders reduce this risk with strong authentication, device approval, transaction alerts, transfer limits, and rapid freeze or revoke controls. For businesses, clear admin permissions and approval workflows are especially important when multiple currencies and corporate cards are managed in one place.
